Czy można za bardzo wyszczotkować zęby?

Naukowcy z Chicago zbadali, że osoby, którzy szczotkują oraz nitkują zęby zbyt często, dużo bardziej narażeni są na zapalenie jelit. Odcinkowe zapalenie jelita oraz wrzodziejące zapalenie jelita grubego mają wpływ na stan układu pokarmowego. Mogą wywołać ból, biegunkę i gorączkę. Ankietowanych zapytano o ich nawyki związane z higieną jamy ustnej oraz zębów w momencie, gdy wykryto u nich nieswoiste zapalenie jelit.
Badania wykazały, że chorzy:
– Myli zęby częściej
– Stosowali nici dentystyczne znacznie częściej
– Częściej korzystali z odświeżacza do ust
– Częściej odwiedzali stomatologa

U chorych na zapalenie jelita zdiagnozowano także większe prawdopodobieństwo szybszego psucia się zębów, suchość w ustach oraz ból w jamie ustanej.
Badacze okazują, że częste szczotkowanie oraz nitkowanie zębów może zmienić rodzaj oraz ilość bakterii w jamie ustnej. A to z kolei, może prowadzić do braku równowagi we florze bakteryjnej układu pokarmowego. W rezultacie, mogą pojawić się objawy zapalenia jelita.
Należy pamiętać, że badanie nie potwierdzają w 100%, że częste zabiegi higieniczne jamy ustnej prowadzą do IBD, nie sugerują też, że zabiegi higieniczne jamy ustnej są bezpośrednią przyczyna IBD”.
